Item Description
From the Estate of Peter J. Vorzimmer, co-author of the 1967 NASA Project Gemini Chronology book. See item #1046 for Vorzimmer biography. Glossy photo has been professionally framed and matted to 10.5x13.5" in a 18.25x20.25" brushed aluminum frame w/UV glass. Photo taken by Gemini 4 Commander James McDivitt shows Pilot Edward White making the first space walk by an American astronaut. Display includes 2.5x3.5" opening below picture w/McDivitt's signature in black ink. Signature has lightly aged, so that ink appears dark brown, o/w Exc. Gemini 4 was launched on June 3, 1965 and it was this mission where White performed his historic space walk. In addition to controlling the capsule, McDivitt photographed White during his walk. For expanded mission details, see #1046. A great piece from a NASA insider present during the Golden Age of manned space exploration. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA COA.
