Item Description
9.5x12.25” high quality hardcover with embossed covers and 548 slick and mat finish paper pages. There are a total of 37 printed drawings by Caniff, including a glued in bookmark, and eight photos which include him. Scenes include college life with emphasis on pretty coeds. Covers have light bumps at corner tips, otherwise Fine/VF. Contents are Exc. Caniff was a member of Sigma Chi, graduating in 1930 with a Journalism degree. He was a staff artist for the Columbus Dispatch, then moved to New York. He began the "Dickie Dare" strip in 1933, "Terry And The Pirates" in 1934, "Male Call" in WWII, and "Steve Canyon" in 1946. Wonderful examples of early art by the cartoonist recognized as “The Rembrandt Of The Comic Strips.”
