Item Description
Sizes range from 6x8” to 8x10.5”. All are on the artist’s personal printed letterhead, typewritten and signed in fountain pen ink. All are written to author Martin Sheridan regarding his classic 1942 book “Comics And Their Creators.” First is pre-publication, dated “Dec 28 38” from Chic Young regarding the possibility of an original being included in the “New Book.” Lower left has printed art of Blondie. Signed “Chic Young.” Second letter is dated “April Second 1942” from “Terry And The Pirates” creator Milton Caniff praising the book. Signed “Milton Caniff” with matching mailing envelope. Third letter is from “Flash Gordon” and “Rip Kirby” creator Alex Raymond, dated August 18, 1947 regarding a planned sequel which would have included Raymond but never saw print. He mentions an uncle working for Terrytoons and brother Jim (Jim Raymond assisted on “Blondie”). Signed “Alex.” All three letters have faint horizontal folds as mailed, Caniff envelope is soiled. Letters themselves are Near Exc. Interesting and historic. Comes with Hake's COA.
