Item Description
Pair of 8.75x10.25" thick artboards w/art size of 6.5x8". First consists of two separate cut-out pieces glued one on top of the other and mounted to the artboard. c. 1950s and prepared for possible use as a Post cereal premium as General Foods sponsored the "Lassie" TV show. First shows Lassie and Timmy on wood grain design, w/art in tempera paint. Bottom of board reads "Lassie And Timmy." Board reverse has penciled name "Sam Gold" while at one corner is gold foil crown sticker reading "A Creation Of Sam Gold - Premium King." Very ft. pencil outlining of letters show behind the actual painted letters, only noticeable upon close inspection. Margin of artboard has lt. wear and st. tanning but art itself appears Mint. Second has tempera art done directly on the artboard. This depicts Lassie jumping through a hoop held by Timmy. Apple tree and farm house in bkg. "Lassie And Timmy" names at bottom done to look like plaque attached to wood board border. Reverse has same "Sam Gold" foil sticker as first piece. Artboard has lt. trace of margin aging but art appears Mint. Wonderful art. Unique. From the archives of premium creators Sam & Gordon Gold, accompanied by a letter to that effect from Gordon Gold.
