In conjunction with a post-season visit by the AL Champion Detroit Tigers, Cabanas brand cigarettes issued this set. 35 cards are known in the set which featured three teams: Detroit Tigers, Almendares and Habana. Each team had its own specific border design/color around portrait photo image on the front with player's name and position below. Text on back references both Cuban and American players and promotes Cabanas cigarettes. Cards measure 1.5x2.25". This card is from the Almendares Scorpions subset. Text variant reading "R. Garcia C. Mamelo." Garcia won the batting title in 1904 with a .397 average, the first of four consecutive batting titles through 1907. He was elected to the Cuban Baseball HOF in 1941. Designated by SGC as being from the "Richard Merkin Collection" and comes with Hake's COA.
