Item Description
Matching 4x5" glossy photos with team name/logo at center along with date of 1952. Surrounding this are player portrait photos as well as illustrations of a hand holding a baseball on both and a batter on one. Player names appear below each image. One is for Leones Del Escogido and players include Easterling and Willard Brown. The other is for Aguilas Cibaenas and players include Alejandro Crespo and Tetelito Vargas. Both have light aging and handling wear. "Leones" is mounted to same size paper sheet. "Aguilas" has 1/16" insect hole on right margin image of "Bicho Pedroso." VG while other is Fine. Willard Brown was a star of the Negro Leagues for the Kansas City Monarchs helping them win six pennants in 10 seasons as well as playing briefly in the Major Leagues for the St. Louis Browns in 1947. He was inducted into the National Baseball HOF in 2006. Easterling was a five time All-Star in the Negro Leagues and played on four pennant winning Homestead Grays teams. Both Crespo and Vargas are members of the Cuban Baseball HOF, Vargas also a member of Puerto Rican HOF. From the Richard Merkin Collection comes with Hake’s COA.
