Item Description
c.1940s. Mat has 6.75x9.75” opening w/India ink and wash image of line of Asain refugees carrying water and belongings as plane from airlift flies away. Mat is signed in pencil “Crowd” at left and “A. Leonardi” at right just below opening. Mat edge is worn. VG. Art and signature area are Exc. Illustrator Anthony Leonardi (1932-2004) was known for his “Dutch Boy” paint ads, using his son as the model. He did movie and theater poster design work and was a member of the Society of Illustrators among many other accolades. See following items #1810-1813.
