Item Description
c.1920. 2-1/8x4” sheet has nice India ink art of Rube Goldberg’s main characters at the time w/large signature in center. Sheet is glued in place on larger sheet which has vintage paper photo of the cartoonist glued in place at left. Larger sheet has lt. creasing and dust soil, art and signature are Exc. Mike and Ike first appeared in 1907 and Boob McNutt in 1915. Goldberg (1883-1970) was also famous for his “inventions”. He was the first President of the National Cartoonists Society in 1946 and its Reuben award statue was designed by him. Nice to have Goldberg’s most famous characters on one piece.
