Item Description
c. 1930s. 16x20.5” archival mat has 11.5x16” opening revealing dry-brush and India ink wash art of cowboys in saloon. Two men are playing cards in foreground as man holding bottle of liquor watches in background next to man holding glass. Art is unsigned, but by noted magazine illustrator Matt Clark (1903-1972) who was a major influence on “Flash Gordon” artist. Alex Raymond. Thin illustration board has been taped in place to back of mat w/ archival tape and has barely noticeable small tear repair at upper right. None of this shows as matted. Art has Exc. appearance. Classic western scene by one of the top illustrators of the day.
