Item Description
c. 1910. 4-7/8x8x4.25” deep wood box w/choice side panel and inside label images of Sandow flexing muscles. Inside label includes him lifting horse and metal cylinder. “Perfection” brand by agent L.G. Deschler. Lid is a bit curled. VG. Side and labels and inside label are Fine. Eugen Sandow (1867-1925) was the father of modern body building. Ziegfeld had Sandow appear at the 1893 Columbian Exposition. In 1894 he was featured in a short film series by Edison Studios, and in a short Kinetoscope film that was part of the first commercial motion picture exhibition in history.
