© Matchbox 1990. First is 3.5" modeling wax sculpture of Series 1, checklist #2 "Hydra" figure. This is a 2-up tooling master with amazing detail. Second item is a 1.75" figure. This is a 1 to 1 resin casting prototype painted in green. This lot comes with a production "Secret 12-Pack" featuring "Hydra" as the "Rare 25 Pt. Monster" in the window of the box. Box has been opened and contains ten additional monsters. Box shows lt. wear and is Exc. Prototype and wax pieces are Exc. as produced with no defects showing. These 2:1 waxes and hard castings were the only 2:1s made for this project out of all the 250 figures. Rich Roland was commissioned to make and design the first six units carved as 2:1s as "bench marks" that illustrated the style, form, proportions and level of detail Matchbox would be looking to get from the balance of the collection ultimately carved at 1:1. There are only six wax 2:1s. Three are being offered in Auction #208 and three more will be offered in Auction #209. See items #2549-2550. Truly a one of a kind item.
