Item Description
3.5x5.5" full color postcard featuring the art of noted Tarzan illustrator J. Allen St. John. This same art appeared on the first edition cover of "The Son Of Tarzan" published by A.C. McClurg & Co. Tarzan fans would write the publisher requesting information about future novels and these cards were sent out to promote upcoming books. This postcard in particular is from 1917 and features brief synopsis of novel on reverse w/leopard image. Card is unmarked and not postmarked. Upper left corner has faint 1" crease but card is o/w unused and VF. Rare and only the third we've offered in our 47 years. Considered among the earliest pieces of Edgar Rice Burroughs' collectible ephemera.
