Item Description
This classic toy's popularity saved the Lionel Corp. from bankruptcy during the dark days of the Depression. Wonderfully illustrated box is 8x11.25x2.25" tall and contains 9" long wind-up toy w/key and single curved track section for display. Box shows moderate wear/aging w/.5x.75" corner piece missing from lid and 2" tear w/repair on side panel of box bottom. VG. The 4.5" tall composition figures of Mickey and Minnie are attached to a painted metal hand car, this being the green variety (also known in red, orange and maroon). Minnie wears a wooden hat and has her original tail. Mickey is missing his. Both have expertly crafted rubber-covered replacement legs which look original. Hand car's wheels are professional replacements and toy comes w/replacement key. Toy works and travels around and figures move as if controlling the handcar but bell does not ring. Toy shows minimal general wear. Minnie has a .75" hairline to back of head. Mickey has two .25" rubs to shoe tips but o/w both figures have choice paint. Fine overall.
