Item Description
This piece is listed as Hake Bryan #25. It is a very elusive, rare mechanical. 1-15/16" dia. with four cut-outs on the front panel in addition to an engraved floral accent. The arc like panels read "Wm McKinley/Republican" and the circular openings show their photos. When the front cover is turned the arc panels reveal the text "Wm Jennings Bryan/Democratic" and the circular openings show their portraits. The back of the piece is open and holds a spring pin bent so that it has both a 1.75" shaft and an opposing .5" shaft for fastening for display. In addition the original paper is here reading "Self Fastening, Pat. Appd./To Remove Button, Slide A Card Between Cloth And Button And Pull Both Out Together/N.J. Aluminum Co, Newark, N.J." NM with only the slightest bit of coloration loss from several of the slogan letters caused by the revolving of the top cover but this is quite minor. A rare mechanical and seldom seen. Hake 2004 Guide value of $649.00.
