Item Description
1-5/8x2.25" Cuban card tobacco issue. Numbered C21-60, the baseball cards are part of a much larger set that also features boxers, actors and actresses, nudes and more. The baseball subset pictures mostly players from the 1923-1924 Cuban Professional League. Printed on glossy paper, the cards were meant to be glued into an album. Card front features head shot with text "Base Ball Papo Gonzalez C-26." Distinctive black border around the image. Card back has issuer/series information. Bold, sharp image. Eusebio Miguel Lopez Gonzalez "Papo" played briefly in Major League Baseball during the 1918 season. He has the distinction of being the first Cuban player to play for the Boston Red Sox. Designated by SGC as being from the "Richard Merkin Collection" and comes with Hake's COA.
