1.5x2-3/8" Cuban card produced for the Aguilitas Cigarette brand. The baseball cards are a subset featuring 44 players from the Cuban Professional League. This extensive 900 card set also featured movie and stage stars, boxers and other subjects. Glossy photo front w/text below portrait "Lundy Base Ball." The card back has the card number and an ad for Aguilitas. Clear, strong image. Lundy is among the best short stops in the history of black baseball. He became the player-manager of the Bacharach Giants from 1925 through 1928, leading the team to two Eastern Colored League pennants. He was nominated and considered for the Hall of Fame in 2006, but fell short of the needed 75% affirmative vote. This is a key card in the set. In our March 2012 auction we sold a SGC 50 VG/EX 4 example for $3,826. Designated by SGC as being from the "Richard Merkin Collection" and comes with Hake's COA.
