Item Description
Reverse is covered tin with fixed horizontal pin. Tin back has several spots with thin oxidation but this did not cause any stain whatsoever and the front of the piece displays Mint. We've not been able to identify this woman but in 1902 there were reports in various newspapers of this Chicago group planning to give diplomas of competency for girls and women employed in homes. The idea was maids and cooks would be evaluated after a year's service and then graded as to whether they were satisfactory, good, or remarkably efficient. Only example we know of.
