Item Description
Obtained in 1976 at a comic convention.11.5x16-7/8” stiff sheet of comic book page paper has 9x14.75” ink image w/superb full figure of Conan wielding ax. Signed in ink “Ernie Chan 1976”. Conan’s forearm has bit of white-out, upper left has lt. tan moisture mark outside image area. Art will frame to Near Exc. appearance. Art was done when Chan was working exclusively for DC, and is actually done on “National Periodicals” page paper. Ernie Chan (1940-2012) worked in Filipino comics and got into American comics w/DC in 1972. By 1974 he was working on Conan for Marvel, returning to DC exclusively in 1975-76 when this art was drawn. He returned to Marvel and focused on Conan in the 1980s.
