Item Description
13.5" tall painted tin skyscraper tower sits on 3.75" dia, painted tin base. Tower is painted to look like building w/doors at bottom w/"Bank" text over them. Die-cut/punched windows on two sides meant to allow owner to see dimes and numbers on other side allowed for keeping track of money. Base has heavy paint wear, but "Skyscraper" and "New York World's Fair" text still partially visible and small Marx logo fully visible as hand-painted by Marx factory artist. Underside is marked "#705 - Glendale - July 14, 1939" indicating this prototype was made in the Glendale, WV. plant in 1939. Bank was ultimately never produced. Heavy paint wear to top of base, rest of bank shows scattered general wear/aging. VG/Fine overall. Unique World's Fair item/dime bank. From the John Bowers Collection.
