3.5" dia. by 6.5" tall stoneware jug given by Harrisburg, PA area wine and liquor merchants to best customers, bar owners/managers. c. early 1900s. In addition to merchant's name and location, jug has "Our Little Brown Jug Wishes You A Merry Christmas" text referencing popular song "Little Brown Jug." Many jugs of this type feature only text; this example has the nice addition of a holly branch and a Christmas ribbon images. Jug remains free of cracks or nicks and displays Exc.
