Item Description
5x7-7/8” printed sheet with inked particulars. Paper has pair of cross-shaped cancellation cuts and lower two inches split on a fold with thin, near invisible tape repair on the reverse, which is blank except for two signatures of the elector and ink notation “No. 191 $28.80.” Front is titled upper right “Electoral College/Senate Chamber,/Harrisburg, December 5, 1832.” Text reads: “Pay To George McCulloch Esquire, The Sum Of Twenty Eight 80/100 Dollars Being The Amount Of His Pay As An Elector For President And Vice President Of The Untied States Of America.” Followed by ink signatures of the Secretary and President of the Treasury Office. A rare document from the process that confirmed Jackson’s re-election as President and Van Buren as Vice –President, although all 30 Pennsylvania electors voted for native son William Wilkins as Vice President. Unique. Displays fresh and clean.
