Item Description
Each piece holds 3.5" ribbons bearing the text quoted in our title. The first item is a 1" fabric covered circular piece with his real photo sepia portrait at center. Small emulsion loss from lower left edge. This reads "Protection 1893." Reverse had a pair of .25" brass wire pointed prongs although one of the two has snapped off. The second piece is similar but has fabric rwb circular piece at top with a single .25" brass pin complete as made on reverse. Each of the circular pieces have a metal back foreshadowing the invention of the pin-back button three years later. Sen. Charles Dick Collection. Rare.
