Item Description
The pin is 11/16” tall with NM luster. Reverse has 1908 copyright and name of T.S. Gaynor. Comes with 2.25 x3.5” booklet which opens to 9” wide. Front of the booklet shows the symbol while below is a cut-out for insertion of the pin followed by the text “Taft, 4 Years.” Written extremely faintly in pencil at the top is “Worn Nov 3 1908 Election Day.” Reverse cover of the booklet has elaborate jugate portraits of Taft and Sherman. Interior has extensive text showing a long list of the “Following Epigrams Can Be Read (abbreviated) In Emblem.” The concluding paragraph of the text shows the emblem and reads “Without Doubt, There Never Was Before Embodied So Much Meaning In A Single Character, As Can Be Found Suggested In This Simple Little Figure.” While the pin is a fairly common item this is the first example we’ve seen of the booklet. Outer covers are lightly tanned with a vertical crease on the front and a tiny edge tear on the back. Overall the booklet is VG.
