Item Description
Here is an incredible single day Smith ribbon badge which would easily provide a wonderful centerpiece for a collection. The 2-1/8” real photo celluloid button has covered metal back with bar pin. Beautiful black and white portrait. Lower left back ground has single white pinpoint dot as printed. Held by the metal back is a 6.5” ribbon with paper sticker on the reverse by the maker Hyatt, Baltimore. Text in gold reads “Mass Meeting For Al Smith/5th Regiment Armory Baltimore, Md./Oct. 29, 1928.” Below this is additional text “Reception Committee Of Maryland.” Most of this text is repeated on the paper envelope that was provided by the maker Hyatt. Envelope has very small tear .5” long near the end of the words “Reception Committee.” The item even comes with a plain generic cardboard insert to prevent bending of the ribbon. The ribbon itself has just the slightest darkening of a few of the gold letters but exceedingly minor. Very close to being as Mint as the day it was made. An “Usher” version of this ribbon is pictured as Hake #2024 with 2004 guide value of $600.00. Less of this “Reception Committee” version would have been made and comes with the original envelope as well.
