Item Description
13x27" inflatable life jacket. This type of life jacket was typically worn by World War II pilots. This jacket was manufactured December 12, 1942 and inspected September 17, 1943 with five other subsequent inspection dates printed on front. On front chest area, life jacket is boldly signed in black ink "Richard I. Bong Major N.C." World War II Flying Ace. Life jacket has some moderate wear from use and has some melting and distortion to rubber attachment of valve on front by collar. Rubber sealant around seams has some aging and some of this sealant is missing. Main canvass part of jacket is still structurally sound, and signature remains very bold and Exc. Jacket is Fine.
