Item Description
Each is 1.5". The first carries the 40th anniversary date "August 22, 1927" of their deaths. (See previous item) Second item also from 1967 reads "General Membership Meeting 1723 10th St. Berkeley/2pm/Sun. Sept. 24." Depicted is "IWW/One Big Union" logo with man holding the logo as a shield and raising a club labeled "Organization" as he fights off images including a snake and a skull accented by the tiny words "Labor Hatred, Hunger, Slavery, Slander, Frame Ups." Button is done in the 'day glo' color known as 'rocket red.' While the IWW membership fell to its lowest level during the 1950s 'Red Scare' by the 1960s the civil rights movement, anti-war protest and various student university movements brought new life to the group although with many fewer members than during its early years. Both are NM displaying Mint.
