Item Description
13/16" by American Artworks, Coshocton, Ohio. Full text on front reads "Faugh-A-Ballagh (Clear The Way) For The Freedom Of Ireland." Button text references a battle cry of Irish origin dating back to the Royal Irish Fusiliers in 1798. The button dates to the years 1916-1921 when Irish Nationalists waged a political and military campaign for freedom. This resulted in a 1920 act by the British Legislature which imposed partition on the Irish people. NM and displays Mint. See following related item.
