Item Description
Button is 2.75" tall. The book was authored by pediatrician Dr. Karen Hein to educate young people about the facts of AIDS. The publisher asked Haring to do the cover art and just a few months later Haring revealed he had contracted AIDS. The publisher made 2,000 of these buttons to promote the book. Text includes Haring's facsimile signature along with date of "88." Additional text reads "AIDS: Trading Fears For Facts/A Guide For Teens/Consumer Reports Books." Button surface has a few faint gray marks as if the celluloid laid against some paper with the reverse faint images of a few letters transferring to the button surface. These small marks are not particularly dark or terribly distracting and the piece retains full gloss. See the following three groups of Haring buttons. Rare.
