Item Description
1.25" with open back and fixed bar pin has real photo without dot pattern with rim text "We Mourn Our Loss/Jacob Gordon Died June 11, 1909." Cello has very slight cloudiness to some areas with a little touch of tan on the "1909" date. Gordon came from Russia to the United States in 1891 and first tried to make a living writing for Russian-language newspapers and the Socialist Arbayter Tsaytung, a precursor to The Forward. He then discovered the Yiddish stage was in need of good material and spent the rest of his life writing and translating plays. Only example we've seen. Also see Jewish War Veterans (WWI) badge issued for WWII item #732.
