Item Description
2-9/16" with metal back and bar pin. Curl names issuer "Jewish Defense League." With others she had attempted to hijack at plane at Leningrad Airport on June 15, 1970. She was attempting to reach Israel. During her trial she shouted out "I Am A Zionist!" With her health deteriorating, her uncle contacted Meir Kahane, founder of the JDL, asking for his help. At a press conference Kahane declared "If Anything Happens To Sylva Zalmanson Or Another Jew, Soviet Diplomats Throughout The World Will Be Open Targets For Jewish Militants." Kahane reminded the newsmen of the slogan "Two Soviets For Every Jew" and told them if need be the slogan would be put into practice. Button is NM and displays Mint. See following two related items.
