Item Description
1.75" button with St. Louis Button Co. paper. Button is dated 1962 for the "75th Anniversary Of The Founding Of Mound Bayou Miss." Pictured are Isaiah Montgomery and Benjamin Green. This community was founded in 1887 in the wilderness of north west Mississippi where blacks had the opportunity to clear land and acquire ownership. Medgar Evers became a resident in 1952. Button has some light spotting on left side and along upper edge but vast majority is clean. Rare.
