Item Description
First is 1.25" button with c.1902 paper by F.F. Pulver, Rochester. Depicts bearded man in pointy shoes wearing medieval type costume accented by a sword hilt at his waist and a leather bag over one arm. A glass in one hand spills its content as he uses the other hand to pore the contents of a bottle into his mouth. All captioned by text "Zig Zag 5c/Modern Confection." There is some stain on the left side and surface has numerous but mostly light scuff lines with a deeper one just above the top edge of the bottle. However, this does not show as much as in our photo as much of the mark was dust now removed. Still with full color and gloss. First we've offered. Comes with rare "Zig Zag" .75x1.25" long litho tin clicker designed as an insect with the word "Germany" on the thorax while the product name is printed upon the wings. At the head area there is an 1/8" wide by 3/8" long slightly raised deposit of pink-toned hardened material. We've not attempted to remove it for fear of also removing the underlying paint. Clicker is still working. Our one other example of this piece realized over $170.00 in Auction #185. See rare Theodore Roosevelt/Zig Zag advertising celluloid clicker #209.
