Item Description
This group of ten each has back paper by W&H with larger text "Made By American Pepsin Gum Co., Newark, N.J./Cameo Pepsin Gum" plus small profile of a woman. Each 1.25" in soft colors depicts a painting including subjects such as Pensive Cherub, five Angels, Psyche looking at water, and others some still well known and others better known in the 1898 era. Cherub button has .25" cut line on right, Angels have a few age dots on the perimeter and one or two others have very trivial tiny edge marks but overall as these come an exceptionally clean group and an exceptionally large group from the series. Ten of seventeen listed in Hake's Buttons In Sets. See following related lot.
