Item Description
All 27 of these are c.1898. All are 1.25". All include the issuer's back paper. The five in the bottom row have El Capitan papers while the first 22 have Cameo. Contrast is light on some of the real photo sepia buttons but images are all clear on close inspection. First five relate to Boston and include State House, Copps Hill, View Of Bay From Market Street Landing, Washington Elm, Old North Church. The following are four missions, three plus one dupe. These are: Old Mill of San Gabriel, San Juan Capistrano, and two showing Santa Yhes Mission built in 1804. Next are Indian, "Norwegian Girl," "Queen Louise," muzzled dog "For The Safety Of The Public." and state seals of District Of Columbia, Illinois (rim stain), Michigan. In bottom row is "California" pennant, Niagara Falls, Mexico (lightly tanned), Washington on 1897 Patriot Order Sons Of America Semi Centennial, Spanish American Warship "U.S. Ram 'Katahdin.'" and a cameo portrait. Four El Capitan: Martha Washington, Indiana (tiny dots on rim edge), Maryland state seal, Goldenrod and three mustangs (rather tanned but not spotted). The most extensive group of these we have ever offered.
