Item Description
Both 6.75x10.25", done for 1968 first series. Preliminary art is for April, 1969 issue #12 in India ink and has Sub-Mariner battling Krustatos. Signed "Severin '68" at lower right. Reverse side has pencil note by Severin thanking "Stephen," noting "All I Have Is A Rejected Cover Sketch That Stan Didn't Like - Sob! Enjoy Marvel Always - Sincerely Marie Severin." This art is slightly different for final art used on comc cover. Front has scattered correctional fluid use and two light horizontal folds as mailed. Fine/VF. Printed color guide for June, 1969 issues #14 showing Namor vs. The Human Torch is nicely water-colored w/hand-painted title at lower left. Reverse side has color notes and pencil logo design. Bright and Exc. Severin was also the main colorist for EC Comics. Nice pair to frame together. From the Robert M. Overstreet Collection. Comes w/COA.
