Comes w/ 9.5” wide business envelope postmarked “24 Sep 1974” addressed in ink to “The Comic Book Price Guide” w/Tennessee address w/ “J. Stanley” Garrison N.Y. return address on back. Contains handwritten letter in ink on front of two 8.5x11” sheets to “Mr. Overstreet” signed “John Stanley” at conclusion. Stanley mentions just moving. Contents include: “The Cover Of The Coloring Book Was Done By Me, I Did All The Finished Covers For The Regular Lulu Mags For The 13 Or 14 Years I Wrote Them;Coloring Books Were Handled By A Separate Dept., But I Occasionally Did Covers For Them On Request- This Was One Of Them.”. He mentions amazement at Price Guide prices, writing Dell’s “Tales From The Tomb” only issue due to “Flak From Parents And Teachers Groups” and writing, drawing, and lettering all issues of “Melvin Monster” and “13 Going On 18”. Comes w/second handwritten letter, 5.75x9” dated “3/78” addressed to “Bob” signed “John Stanley” referring to cover ideas for price guide. The 2005 “Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide” had a Lulu cover by Stanley. Final item is folded and faded photocopy of coloring book cover signed “J. Stanley” in ink. Painting is NM.
