Item Description
Original manila folder titled “Funny Animals” c. early 1950s holds publication materials. Includes three different 8.5x11” sheets w/red pencil cover designs. Each has 7x7” image area numbered “6, 9, 10” in pencil. Scenes include: monkey Beep as cowboy on rocking horse lassoing monkey “Bantam”, duckling Beep bailing out sailboat as rooster Bantam sleeps, monkeys Beep & Bantam scared of shark. Art is unsigned, but by former animator Ken Hultgren. Beep and Bantam only appeared together in eight issues. Historically important showing the characters design change from monkeys to fowl. Comes w/ two page list in pencil detailing story titles, pages, and first name credits for issues # 79-83, and printed pages for issues # 61-79 w/story titles and first name credits typed in. Folder has dust soil and aging, contents have light edge wear. Fine/VF. From editor Will Lieberson’s personal Fawcett comic book files. Unique.
