Item Description
See previous likely related button.  This is 1.5" with Bastian paper.  Pictured is fairly obvious depiction of a prostitute wearing a crown and smoking a cigarette in cigarette holder.  In addition to the event title text says "Rowena Says It's O.K./Knight After Knight."  At Cornell University since May, 1901 Spring Day was used as an excuse to cancel class in the name of mass debauchery.  The springtime carnival-parade-dragfest started because the University Athletic Association was out of funds and this event was created for income.  The school drama clubs and musical groups organized a benefit concert but with the event struggling at the box office there was an impromptu parade to stir up business.  The parade lead to increased attendance and the activities were repeated the following year becoming a tradition.  In this particular year, 1922, events had progressed to being more elaborate.  This year the event had a medieval theme (linking to the previous button) with a parade of knights followed by jousting at Schoellkopf Field.  Who "Rowena" may be and what she is saying "O.K." to we will not speculate upon.  One of only two examples we've seen and from the Hake Collection.  NM displaying Mint.  Comes with Hake's COA.
