Dated 6-18-1947. 23x27” wood frame w/mat has 11.5x12.5” opening. Art is for satirical look at radio cartoon series which ran in newspapers on Wednesdays. Young boy is dressed as an Indian and pretending to be “Chief Bearskin” offering help to Tonto who is on radio saying “Me Tonto. Me Hear Chief Snake-Eye Say Him Make War On Pale Face. Him Plenty Bad Man. Tonto Ride Now And Spread Alarm. Me Go Now”. Bottom has ink © N.Y. Tribune”, signed “Webster” at lower right. Title at top is a printed paste-up as issued, all else is original. Trace of light dust soil and aging. Fine/VF. Well drawn example by the cartoonist known for creating Caspar Milquetoast. Ready for display.
