This 1941 Ovaltine premium comes with a 8.5x11" photocopy of the folder explaining the premium with the title "The Story Of Your American Flag Loyalty Pin!" This has illustration of Captain Midnight with detailed text about the flag/secret compartment/The Statue Of Liberty/wearing your pin and how to get more pins. The premium itself is 1.25" tall. Made of heavy brass die-cut as a flowing American flag. Front with rwb enamel paint. Reverse has bar pin and circular tube stamped with Statue Of Liberty image. Tube served as compartment to hold thin paper with text of "Captain Midnight Loyalty Pledge." This 3.5" thin paper is rarely seen. All, like this, have original fold lines and tiny wrinkles from being rolled small enough to fit into the .25" tube opening. This example has 7/8" hairline tear but is exceptionally clean. Reverse shows eight colonial era flags and explains the meaning behind the American flag designs. The front text begins: "Captain Midnight's Pledge To The Flag: In This Moment Of My Country's Peril, I Pledge Anew My Allegiance..." An extremely rare paper. Badge is NM.
