Auction #209 - Part II
Item numbers 1145 through 2874 in auction 209
Item Description
This beautiful brass premium is 1-7/8" in dia. and from the late 1930s although we do not know the issuer. Front of the piece pictures a military plane with machine guns extending from the nose. Surrounding background is designed with a cloud pattern. Below is a rectangular panel holding a no longer functioning piece of litmus paper. To the left are the words "Blue/Fair" to the right "Pink/Rain" and at the bottom are the words "Purple/Cloudy." Above the plane is a .75" dia. cut-out window and the back of the piece is a second metal disk that revolves first showing a large opening inscribed "1000FT." and then there are a series of three progressively smaller holes with the final being only 1/16" with altitude below "10,000FT." The aircraft shown has some resemblance to those featured in Terry And The Pirates. We've had the piece only once before. The original pin has been neatly re-soldered on the reverse and the front of the piece shows a few tiny dots without luster. Exc. and extremely Rare.
