Item Description
For Lane Smith biography, see previous item #1832. 18.5x23.5" frame contains original mixed media art that has been professionally framed and double-matted (w/suede-like mat) to 8.75x13.75". Conceptual art by Smith (who worked as the Conceptual Designer) was created for the 1996 Disney film version directed by Henry Selick and produced by Denise Di Novi and Tim Burton. Art depicts James's fever dream of falling, w/the grotesque distorted faces of his evil aunts Spiker and Sponge depicted as heat monsters swirling around him. Smith has signed at lower left. NM. This image (along w/all the other Smith created for the film) were collected in a best-selling "James And The Giant Peach" picture book written by Karey Kirkpatrick (based on Roald Dahl) and published by Hyperion Press. Wonderful art from a children's classic. This is the first time this art has been offered for sale other than its initial sale in 1997 through Sotheby's.
