Item Description
19x25" frame contain original oil painting (w/collage element) that has been professionally matted to 9x15". Art is by Lane Smith - a popular children's book author and illustrator - and was featured in Jon Scieszka's "The True Story Of The Three Little Pigs" children's book, which Smith illustrated. First released in 1989, it is a parody of The Three Little Pigs as told by the Big Bad Wolf, known in the book as "A. Wolf," short for "Alexander T. Wolf." The art shows a well-dressed Wolf reacting w/alarm at blazing brick house, fire erupting from the hot drink he just took. At the very edges, the Three Little Pigs are barely seen, w/just snouts, ears and hoof visible. Their shadows indicate they are watching the house burn. One Pig holds a notepad and collage photo of a microphone in his paw. Smith has signed along left margin. Displays Exc. Smith is also noted for his work w/Roald Dahl (see "James And The Giant Peach" art #1833). He has authored and illustrated his own books as well, most notably "It's A Book" which was a New York Times bestseller for over six months, "Madam President"; "John, Paul, George, And Ben" and "Grandpa Green." Wonderful, whimsical art from this beloved children's classic.
