7.75x10.5" album w/cardboard cover has 24 pages and contains complete set of 185 cards all mounted at appropriate spots. Issued by Caramelo Deportivo (Sporting Caramels) this set covers the 1945-46 Cuban Winter League season. Cards are 1-7/8x2.5" on glossy thin stock. Compared to the previous year's issue, in addition to more players, this set also has team pennants, stadiums, managers and sportscasters. Pennant cards are color, all else is bw. Some 60 players in this set played in the Negro Leagues of the era. The top four key cards are: Martin Dihigo, Buck O'Neill, Don Newcombe, and Raymond Dandridge. Other key cards/stars of note include: Alejandro Crespo, Luis Tiant Sr., Max Manning, Harry Kimbro, Lloyd Pearson, Cocaina Garcia, Lazaro Salazar, Silvio Garcia, Booker McDaniels, Minnie Minoso, Lefty Gaines, Armando Marsans, Adolfo Luque. All over moderate scattered wear and aging both to cover and contents. Staple rust. Center four pages loose. Card condition varies, some have creases, some with spots of surface paper wear, others much less wear and are nice glossy examples. Overall condition for the entire album is Good/VG as mounted/assembled and aged. We have photo details of the key cards but if more images/further card descriptions are desired, please contact us. The example from the Merkin collection that we sold in March 2012 was in similar condition and it realized $1,962.
