Large format pictures on newsprint issued by "Sensasion" periodical, each measures about 6x9". This lot comprises 26 of 27 in the set, missing only Conrado Marrero. Each has been neatly trimmed (as intended) around the simulated border design and features color photo image on front and detailed bio and stats on back. This set features stars of the Cuban Leagues (a different set of 11 were issued for MLB starts in this same format). By far the key player in this set is Martin Dihigo. This one has been encapsulated by SGC and deemed "Authentic" as well as being from the "Richard Merkin Collection." Size limitations of SGC restricted more from being encapsulated, but to protect and preserve the Dihigo, accommodations were made by them. So not only is this the key to the set, it is the only encapsulated example extant. Slightly uneven margin trim and lt. aging but a very visually appealing example with great image of this legend in his Cienfuegos Elephants uniform. He is the only player inducted into the Cuban, Mexican and National Baseball Hall of Fame. Other keys in the near set are: Lazaro Salazar, Silvio Garcia, Napoleon Reyes. Overall group is neatly trimmed. Typical trace of aging, some w/a faint trace of moisture stain to one back corner but not visible on the fronts.
