Item Description
Both thin art boards have 10.25x15.25” India ink image area w/printed logos. Jan. 4 page has seven panels and has Phantom w/Devil talking to natives about “Waterman”, then going to investigate. Phantom is in every panel. July 20 page w/eight panels has ©1997 King Features Syndicate sticker. Phantom is in five panels though first story panel is a paste-up photocopy from the previous week. Storyline has Phantom w/guns drawn as military villains open fire causing loud screams from beasts. Phantom chases and tackles evil dictator in last panel. Each has small applied “Olesen Pencils Frederick Inks” sticker, but bottom margins are signed in ink “Fred Fredericks”. Both are clean and Exc. Fredericks has drawn the “Mandrake The Magician” comic strip for over 40 years, did “The Phantom” Sunday comic strip for five years, and inked many comic books. A well drawn pair. See Fred Fredericks strip art #1981-1984.
