Item Description
Group of five thin art boards taped in place on back form 19x26” India ink image area for Dec. 21. Top portion logo area has Abner as statue at left and “Advice Fo’ Chillun” panel promoting eating vegetables. Rest of page has ten panels. Abner is pretending to be a “Rodin Rodent” bronze statue and wins grand prize. A wealthy woman buys him for $50,000 as Abner thinks “ Gulp! Ah Is Sold Into Slavery!" She takes him home and is about to be robbed when Abner saves her and leaves. Last panel has Abner happily running in snow towards Dogpatch saying “A Merry Chris’mus To Yo-All, Fum All Th’ Yokums An’ Fum Mistah Capp!!” Last panel has artist-creator “Al Capp” ink signature. Complete w/United Feature Syndicate copyright sticker. Trace of lt. dust soil and aging. Two photo stat titles at top have glue stains, easily replaceable. Most of image area will frame to Fine appearance. Superb example complete w/rare original topper and personal Christmas greeting. From The Don Maris Collection.
