Item Description
Lot of 40 different 3.5x5.5" postcards, including two by Gibson, one by Tuck and four by Whitney. One card features art by Ellen H. Clapsaddle. c. early 1900s-1920. All but two depict black cats (other two both feature different color cats) as the main theme w/cards also including jack-o-lantern pumpkins, pumpkin-headed scarecrows, witches, a devil, ghosts, a skeleton, owls, bats, etc. One card features great image of two goblins riding black cat w/skeleton, ghost, witch and jack-o-lanterns in bkg. Another neat design has a devil w/pitchfork sitting atop pumpkin and another features Pied Piper-type leading parade of cats by candlelight. Another great design features two owls pulling a floating pumpkin which contains a Grim Reaper. One card serves as a Halloween Party invitation w/inking on front. 28 of the 40 have either been writing or are postally used. Some designs include embossing and metallic accents. Two cards have heavy-moderate aging/wear w/one having scattered inking to front. Good/VG. 10 have moderate handling wear w/corner tip wear and some creasing; a few have some moderate aging/age-spotting. VG. Eight other cards have some handling wear/aging and are VG/Fine overall. Rest are Fine overall. Great designs. An instant collection. All shown online.
