Item Description
Lot of 40 different 3.5x5.5" postcards, including six by Tuck and nine by Whitney. c. early 1900s-1920. All depict anthropomorphic vegetable people as the main theme w/cards also including jack-o-lantern pumpkins, pumpkin-headed people, black cats, witches, devil, owls, bats, etc. One card features great image of witch, pumpkin-headed man and black cat in fruit-vegetable car. Another neat design has a tiny devil having drink/dessert w/pair of anthropomorphic fruit people. Another great design anthropomorphic apples diving into bucket for bobbing. Two other cards feature pumpkin-bodied men w/witches (one being old crone, the other being sexy witch). A particularly ironic card features a frowning jack-o-lantern-headed man seated w/a pumpkin pie in front of him. A few cards feature same pumpkin-headed children and pumpkin-headed witch girl. 36 of the 40 have either writing or are postally used. Some designs include embossing and metallic accents. Varying degrees of handling wear, a few have handling wear w/corner tip wear and a small tear here and there. VG/Fine. Remaining cards have some handling wear/aging and are Fine overall. Great designs. An instant collection. All shown online.
