Item Description
26.5x40.25" poster printed by the Erie Litho & Ptg. Co. of Erie, PA. From 1928-1929 season. The Sparks Circus was established by John H. Wiseman (1863-1903) who used the Sparks name on all of his entertainment shows and legally changed his name to John H. Sparks. The Sparks Circus was later incorporated into the American Circus Corporation before being bought by Ringling in 1929. Poster features large portrait of "Dainty Jessica Martin - Unquestioned 'Queen Of The Wire'" seated on high wire w/rest of poster showing her walking tightrope w/parasol. Poster has 2.5" tear at center left and 2.25" tear at lower right, but poster has had no restoration other than linen-mounting, which gives poster a VF display w/bright and bold colors. Great images.
